April 2018

Summer has well and truly left , but with autumn comes the spectacular red and gold hillsides that we love here in Queenstown and Arrowtown.  Be sure you make the most of the dwindling daylight hours with an April jam packed with activities for friends and family that wish to have a break with  Queenstown Holiday Homes.

The 34th Akarua Arrowtown Autumn Festival is a community festival that includes events for people of all ages and nationalities. Over the 5 days you can enjoy childrens workshops, an art exhibition, fun dog show, gold panning  championships, historical walks and much more. The infamous Pie,Pint and Pinot is on Sunday 22nd April and is a chance to sample delicious pies, awesome craft beer and amazing Akarua wines. Don’t miss coming to hear the fantastic and talented NZ Youth Choir who will be holding a concert on Tuesday 24th April.

Following on form her hugely successful Promise and Promiscuity tour with Arts on Tour in 2014,  Penny Ashton returns with Olive Copperbottom. Swapping Jane Austen for Charles Dickens, Ashton brings orphaned hero Olive and a squalid gaggle of hilarious Victorians to crusty life at the Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall on April 12. A romantic musical journey through fifteeen jin-soaked characters told with song, dance and questionable personal hygiene. It’s Oliver meets Blackadder with a saucy feminine twist.

The 19th Annual Dart River Jet Safaris Paradise Plates Disc Golf Tournament will be held in one of the most breath taking environments Queenstown has to offer, – The Paradise Trust Property, beyond Glenorchy, on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th April. The Paradise Place involves a 54 hole singles tournament, with 27 holes on each day. It will be in an outdoor environment and play rain or shine. The tournament operates on an attitude of “no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing”. This event is always fund whether you are participating or spectating..

As you can see there is no excuses for being bored in Queenstown this April – we have Queenstown Holiday Homes and Accommodation available for the April school holidays  and if you are thinking about your ski trip to Queenstown during winter, we have holiday homes and apartments  also still available .
