November 2020

Summer is certainly setting in and this November The Arts have taken over the district.  This month Queenstown is playing host to some of NZ’s best authors who will be speaking over four days.  These novelists, poets, children’s writer and non-fiction writers will share their stories and wisdom with local audiences and lead writing workshops. The Writers Festival is a chance to bring writers and readers together to celebrate the written word in many forms. So if you’re on holiday and you find that mountain inspiration, check out their website and head along to one of the workshops offered.

Have you seen Banksy’s famous image “flower thrower”? Well some clever kiwis have gone and written a spoken word travelling show inspired by it. “Say it with Flowers” is travelling the country and is stopping in Queenstown on November 5. The show received excellent reviews from the critics and is a must see this spring. The event starts at 7pm prompt, so make sure you get there a bit earlier as seating is limited. Tickets can be found on Eventfinda.

Are you here to run or just here to cheer on your friends and family, either way we will see you at the finish line for The Queenstown Marathon. Set between the backdrop of the world renowned Crown and Remarkable mountain ranges, and taking in the best highlights of the Queenstown Lakes region on hard packed cycle trails, this is truly a flat out beautiful course. After a sell out event in 2019, the turnout for the 2020 race is going to be phenomonal. We have had several friends and family compete in it over the years and by all account it is not an event to be missed!  Queenstown Holiday Homes still has a few holiday homes and apartments available, so come and join in the great weekend.

We have good availability in January and February and between you and me this is when Queenstown is really at its’ best. Grab a Fergburger and head down to the lake, or hire an E-Bike and cruise along the multitude of trails around the basin. The longer evenings make it the perfect time to head to one of the lakeside bars for a sunset drink. So if you have been thinking about a summer getaway , now is the time to book – Air New Zealand has some great fares to Queenstown.

Stay safe on the roads when travelling and we look forward to have you stay with Queenstown Holiday Homes.
