October 2020

We understand that this year has been a difficult one for everyone but with Queenstown returned to Level One, we are excited to welcome all our visitors back!  We currently have great discounted rates on all of our properties and with spring coming into bloom The Wakatipu Basin is jam packed with outdoor activities to enjoy during your time in Queenstown.

Over the past few years The Queenstown Lakes District Council has poured a log of effort in to creating cycle and walkways around the basin.  Today there are hours worth of cycling tracks for you to explore. Staying in central Queenstown but would like to head out to the wineries in Gibbston Valley?  Not a problem, hire an E-Bike from one of the many stores in town and cruise on out along the trails that will take you right out into the heart of  Queenstown Wine Country. You can have yourself and your bike returned by shuttle if your food and wine consumed has made it a bit too long of a day! Feeling like an adventure a bit further abroad, the new Cromwell to Clyde trail will be opening very soon and will be a wonderful day out.

Queenstown has always been known for its excellent variety of dining and with town being a bit quieter, there has never been a better time to grab a bite to eat. Have you ever wanted to order a Fergburger but have been too intimidated by the queues, that’s not an issue anymore!  The blossoms are out in full bloom in Arrowtown and surrounds, so why not take a stroll and stop in for lunch at one of the many great cafes.

Milford Sound has some of the most stunning scenery and  is situated just a 3.5 hour drive from Queenstown, now is the time to visit.  There is plenty to do and see , from hiking, kayaking, but we think that the best way to see the area is on of the cruises on the Sound.  There are a variety to choose from including day and overnight cruises.  Who knows if you keep your eyes peeled, you might even spot some dolphins leaping on the bow!

Looking for a few giggles to liven up your holiday, then look no further than the local comedy scene.  Remarkably Funny have been growing their presence in Queenstown over the last two years and now they can safely call themselves the funniest bunch in town. With bi-weekly shows at he wonderful Yonder venue, it’s the perfect way to start your evening off and if you are feeling brave or feel like you have a ripping yarn to tell, show your face to one of the comedians and they’ll give you a chance to get up on stage and have a crack. Be sure to book tickets through Eventfinda as these nights always sell out

The Queenstown Marathon is  in mid November, if you are entering or are coming to Queenstown to support friends or family, make sure you book your accommodation soon as this is a really popular event.

We look forward to seeing you this October/November, stay safe on the roads this spring, mother nature still has a bit of winters chill in her as we have seen over the last week.  Remember to check out our discounted rates over the coming months.. Thank you from all of us here at Queenstown Holiday Homes.
