Queenstown in May

The first sprinkling of snow has settled upon the peaks around the Queenstown Lakes, and with winter settling in, it’s the perfect time to book a quiet get away with your family or friends with Queenstown Holiday Homes. While things around the town are quietening down before the rush of the ski season, the autumn colours and crisp winter mornings make the walking and cycling tracks around the reas that much more beautiful.

Start deciding whether you will be on skis or a snowboard this season as it is just around the corner!  Coronet Peak opens on the 11 of June and The Remarkables opens the week following.  WIth new snow guns up on both mountains, it’s bound to be another fantastic season.

New Zealand music legends, The Chills, will be visiting Queenstown this May.  Fronted by the rare talent of Martin Phillips, The Chills were originally formed in 1980 and had a revolving cast of band members, with Phillips remaining the only constant. His knack for writing fantastic pop songs let to hit charts back home and a cult following around the world. The Chills will be playing at The Sherwood 554 Frankton Road, Queenstown on May 6.

At a loss for what to do for Mothers Day this year?  Then how about a 5km fund run/walk around beautiful Lake Hayes. Proceeds will go to the New Zealand Heart Foundation and will go toward combating heart disease in New Zealand.

While Queenstown might be winding down (a little!) this May, there is still an abundance of things for friends or family to get involved in.  Stay tuned to hear more wintery updates as June is just around the corner.

Thank you from all of us at Queenstown Holiday Homes and stay safe on the roads at temperatures start to drop.
